Accor and Crowne Estate form partnership to bring Swissôtel resort to Malaysia’s Genting Highlands
For the first time ever, hospitality giant Accor’s Swissôtel Hotels & Resorts brand has come to Malaysia with the partnership of investment firm Crowne Estate Malaysia. On April 19th, during the sign-off ceremony, Sean Chen, the COO of Crowne Estate, released a statement that this move forwards the goal of King’s Park in Genting Highlands, to become a much-visited eco-friendly tourist and destination hub. Swissôtel Genting Highlands, will be the first hotel by Accor in Malaysia and be located in Highlands ParkCity at an altitude of 3,000 ft.
Highlands ParkCity is a township that brings forth a nature-inspired wellness atmosphere and is a mere 45-minute drive away from the Kuala Lumpur City Centre. King’s Park, one of the phases currently under development, is poised to be “the longest street mall in Malaysia” and will feature state-of-the-art pedestrian street shopping spanning over 2,000 m. This ambitious plan to develop a resort will take up 150 acres and here, people from across the world will enjoy a plethora of events, arts, cultural shows, and delectable cuisine. Thanesh Jayandren, the executive director of Highlands ParkCity, states that this is possible because of the focus on entertainment, eco-tourism, and international attractions.
Capitaland’s J’Den Condo will provide residential and commercial spaces in the heart of Jurong East MRT Station. Connected to multiple amenities, it’s expected to launch J’Den Condo in 2023.
This 300-room hotel, Swissôtel Genting Highlands, is a joint venture of Crowne Estate Malaysia and the established Malaysian real estate developer, Yuk Tung Group. The hotel is designed to be a grand retreat of posh and nature in tandem and will stand over 30 storeys tall, with epic views of the surrounding mountains. To put it in perspective, the Genting Highlands summit is just a 15-minute drive away, making it a perfect position for the guests. The hotel is set to open in the third quarter of 2028 and will provide amenities such as hospitality, conference facilities, all-day dining, executive lounges, bars, a grand ballroom, swimming pool, fitness centre, spa, jogging tracks, and more.
Garth Simmons, the CEO of Accor for South, Southeast Asia, Japan, South Korea, and India, commented that Genting Highlands is rapidly becoming a favorite among locals and tourists alike, and this collaboration will strengthen the leading position of Accor in the hospitality industry of Malaysia.
